SBEF Totally 80’s Gala

This year’s Spring Branch Education Foundation (SBEF) Gala will be Saturday, November 9th at 7pm at the Royal Sonesta Hotel.  The theme is “Totally 80’s” and it will be such a fun event!

As the cost of education our children continues to rise, the support that SBEF provides SBISD is critical.  With your generous support of the 2019 Totally 80’s Gala, you are making a significant difference in the lives of students and teachers through the district and contributing to the success of the whole community.

If you are interested in attending or helping underwrite the 2019 SBEF Gala and supporting the wonderful work that SBEF does for our schools and district, please CLICK HERE.

Book Fair

Get Ready Wilchester!

It’s time for our Fall Scholastic Book Fair!  Come visit the Library from October 21-October 25 from 7:30am-3:30pm and October 26 from 10:00am-4:00pm.  We encourage you or loved ones to come to school during lunch or recess to shop with your child.  The children will also have a chance to go to the book fair during the week with their class.  This is the perfect opportunity to add some new books to your library, donate books to classrooms, or get in some early holiday shopping.

Don’t forget to set up an eWallet account – it makes shopping at the book fair so easy!  This is a great alternative to sending cash and lets you set a spending limit.  Plus it’s free to set up, provides immediate funds, and returns unused funds back to your card.  Find our school at scholastic.com/fair to set up an account for your child.

We need help to make this event possible!  Please consider signing up for shifts below  This is a fun and easy way to volunteer directly with the students.

Sister School Program

We Need Your Help! – Coats and Undies Drive Starts October 1st!

This month we are collecting some much-needed items for our sister school, Spring Shadows Elementary.  Their principal has expressed these specific needs, and we can meet these needs with your help.

Please consider sending the following during the month of October:

  • NEW Underwear for 5-8 year-olds
  • NEW Socks for 5-12 year-olds
  • New or Gently-Used Coats for 5-12 year-olds

This is a great opportunity to work together as a WCE family to support a need that is close to home.  We are so grateful for the help of this supportive and caring community!

Additionally, our Sister School, Spring Shadows Elementary, has ongoing needs for the Blessing in a Backpack program. Blessings in a Backpack is a weekend food program for children at risk of going hungry. Wilchester helps by collecting food donations each month and by delivering bags to students at Spring Shadows every Friday.

For additional information regarding our Sister School program, please contact our 2019-20 chairs:

Blessings in a Backpack

Bayou City Blessings in a Backpack will continue to collect monthly Food Focus items throughout the year.  The collection box is located in the front foyer.  The donated food items help offset the cost of the Blessings bags.

October Food Focus: Tomato Sauce (8 oz. cans)

We are also collecting CAN OPENERS!  Blessings in a backpack often provides canned food items and we want to make sure families have a way of opening them.  Please drop them in the Blessings box.

Do you have an hour to spare on Friday morning? Sign up to deliver Blessings in a Backpack to our Sister School, Spring Shadows Elementary.
