Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week will be held October 26 – October 30. During this week, children will learn about healthy living and the dangers of drugs through age-appropriate activities. To show their support for living a drug-free life, students may choose to wear special clothing to school throughout the week.

The Red Ribbon Week themes are as follows:
  • Monday, 10/26 – Wear Red. “Are you “red”y to live a drug free life?”
  • Tuesday, 10/27 – Wear fun/crazy socks. “Be happy. Be Brave. Be Drug Free.”
  • Wednesday,10/28 – Wear a superhero shirt or socks. “Perseverance is power, and you have the power to stay drug free.”
  • Thursday, 10/29 – Wear Wilchester spirit gear. “I believe in me – happy, healthy, and drug free.”
  • Friday, 10/30 – Dress as your favorite book character. “Drugs destroy your character.”

We are looking forward to celebrating such an important week at Wilchester! Be on the lookout for red ribbons around the school and a special visitor at drop off on Monday!  You and your child can sign the Drug Free Pledge by visiting redribbon.org/pledge.

Birthday Book Club

The Birthday Book Club is a great way to honor birthdays at Wilchester and enhance our school library!

If you choose to participate in this program, visit our online wishlist at Blue Willow Bookshop and select a book your child would enjoy. It is fine to purchase a book elsewhere, but please look at the wish list for ideas.

All Birthday Books will receive a special label inside the book cover, the recipients will get a shout out on the morning announcements, and they will be the first to read the new books. When the recipients are finished reading, the books will be returned to the library for others to enjoy (once library check out becomes available).

We will begin delivering the first round of Birthday Books in October.  Please have books ordered by September 15th to guarantee an October delivery. This allows us time to receive the books, process them in the library system, and “quarantine” them before delivery.

If your child’s birthday was over the summer or is in September, feel free to celebrate them at any time during the school year!
