Carnival Fun Junk & Stuffed Animals

Fun Junk & Stuffed Animals

Cleaning out your play room for the holidays? Consider saving those items for Carnival Fun Junk and Stuffed Animal booths. Collection bins will be located in the front office atWilchester for the remainder of 2017. In 2018, there will also be designated home drop off locations.

What is “Fun Junk?” Fun Junk is not “junk” at all. Funk Junk consists of small toys that your child no longer plays with, but another child might really like…Items like party favors, free fast food toys, bouncy balls, matchbox cars, small figurines, beanie babies, toy jewelry, etc. Please do not hesitate to ask Stephanie Adam, swalseyadam@gmail.com, about what qualifies as “funk junk.”

Stuffed animals should be new or gently used without rips, stains, or missing parts.

Sister School Program

We Need Your Help!

Our Sister School, Spring Shadows Elementary, has ongoing needs for the Blessing in a Backpack program. Blessings in a Backpack is a weekend food program for children at risk of going hungry. Wilchester helps by collecting food donations each month and by delivering bags to students at Spring Shadows every Friday.

100% of the children Spring Shadows qualify for free and reduced lunch. For the upcoming school year, Wilchester volunteers will help deliver 500 weekend bags through our partnership with Bayou City Blessings in a Backpack. We are looking for volunteers to pack bags, transport bags and deliver bags to the children in the program.

November Food Focus:

Canned chicken noodle soup and canned tomato soup
Look for our drop box in the front foyer.

Spring Shadows Elementary had 5 teachers that flooded their homes and lost almost everything. If you would like to contribute to gift cards to help these families rebuild their lives, you can square cash Marty at $Marty Chapman or drop off money/check to 326 Patchester by tomorrow. Gift cards will be delivered onSeptember 15th.

You can contact Darcy Gagnon (darcy.gagnon@sbcglobal.net) or
Marty Chapman (rickmart@earthlink.net) for information on delivering food bags to Spring Shadows Elementary.

Paw Print Express

What is Paw Print Express?

Paw Print Express (PPE) is the Wilchester Elementary student mail service that allows students to write letters to friends, teachers and other staff members. Parents may also write encouraging letters to their children as well to surprise them.

How does it work?

Each Friday, one classroom (1st – 5th grade) is assigned to assist with PPE delivery. Students make sure the letters are addressed correctly, sort the letters by teacher, provide our own version of Wildcat postage, and then finally deliver them to the appropriate classroom. This activity allows for student to understand mail service in a fun and interactive way.

How can my child write a letter or how can I write a letter to my child?

It’s easy! Click HERE and print off a piece of PPE stationary.   There is PPE stationary located in the front office.  Students can also get paper from classroom teachers or the librarian.

Make sure to fold the piece of paper in half and write who the letter is to(child’s full name and their teacher’s name) as well as who the letter isfrom (parent or child’s name writing letter).

You can place finished letters in the PPE mailbox in the front office, the mailbox located in the library or the mailbox located on the 2nd floor of the school.

For seasonal stationary, see these images:

Box Tops!

BoxTops For Education LogoBox Tops over the Holidays
As you buy your Holiday groceries, don’t forget to clip and submit those Box Tops. We submitted 6,162 Box Tops for a total of $612.20 for our Library. But we don’t want to stop there so please bring in those Box Tops over the next two months and deposit them in the Front Office or the Library. The Box Top Chairman would appreciate if you could submit them in plastic bags of 50 with a 50 marked on the bag in Sharpie. If you have less than 50 just simply mark how many are in the bag. And of course it is very helpful if you or your child can always tape the Box Tops to sheets found at https://www.boxtops4education.com/about/collection-sheets
